*Comparison*All The Bright Places*

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

All the Bright Places was originally a book written by Jennifer Niven and then got transformed into a Netflix film. This post is comparing the book and the film. This is not a full comparison it is just a comparison of the main similarities and differences throughout both.

In the beginning of the book Violet Markey meets Theodore Finch on the top of a bell tower where Violet is contemplating jumping off the tower and Finch shows her the brighter side which then calms her down. However in the film Violet is on the bride where her sister died during a car accident and Finch comes running past and stops and calms her down. In my opinion the bridge has more value of Violets emotions as it’s a significant place to Violets emotions.

In the book it is made explicitly clear that Violet is a writer whereas in the film its only implied by Violets role of writing about the places that they visit for the school project.

Following the last difference, a similarity is that all the places that Violet and Finch visit for the school project are the same.

In the book Ryan plays a much bigger role than in the film, by being named and actively showing that Violet and him used to date before her sister died whereas in the film he is shown having a conversation with her at a party but it’s not explicitly told who he is.

However even after all of these differences the ending is the same in the book and the film except that the book is a bit more detailed than the film.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
